The city of Temple, Texas is located in central Texas, 65 miles north of Austin and 34 miles south of Waco. The city has been called the "Wildflower Capital of Texas." In 1881, Temple was founded as a railroad town and named after Bernard Moore Temple, a civil engineer and former surveyor with the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad Company that established the town.
