    The operators of Killeen's Creekview Academy charter school advised the Texas Education Agency Friday that they're ceasing operation on Dec. 1. Under a 2013 state law, the TEA revoked Honors Academy's charter in June after its schools failed overall to meet state academic standards for three consecutive years between 2009 and 2011 and failed to make required improvements during the 2012-2013 school year. The TEA sent letters on Nov. 10 to parents of students who attend Creekview and seven other schools operated by Honors Academy around the state confirming the revocation of the operators' charter.

    In Waco today, 21-year-old Daniel Lee Rosales of Killeen, TX, was sentenced to two years in federal prison for stealing money from U.S. Army soldiers though a fraudulent loan scam announced United States Attorney Robert Pitman and Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Christopher Combs, San Antonio Division. In addition to the prison term, United States District Judge Walter S. Smith, Jr. ordered that Rosales pay $28,180 restitution to his victims and be placed on supervised release for a period of five years after completing her prison term.
