  • Erie man sentenced on gun, drug charges

    An Erie man was sentenced this morning in Erie County Court to serve four and one-half to 11 years in state prison on drug and weapons charges stemming from a series of undercover drug buys and a raid at his Erie home. The sentence came after Tracy pleaded guilty in September to charges of delivery of marijuana and cocaine, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of drug paraphernalia, and in a separate case, charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possessing an offensive weapon and receiving stolen property.

    Erie police credit tips from the public in leading them to a city man accused of possessing a stolen gun. Deshawn L. Peters, 20, of the 700 block of East 25th Street, remains in the Erie County Prison this morning on $7,500 bond.

    Erie Water Works officials said a portion of State Street will remain closed at least a couple more days as work is done to repair a waterline break. Paul Vojtek, chief executive of Erie Water Works, said there is a small chance that work could be completed by Tuesday night, but it is more likely the work will be done at some point Wednesday.
