About: Baldwin Park, California

Baldwin Park is located in southwestern California, near Los Angeles. The land where the city sits today was once owned by the San Gabriel Mission and was used for cattle grazing. A community was established and by 1880 it was referred to as Vineland. In 1906 the city changed its name to Baldwin Park in honor of Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin, a prominent California businessman and investor during the latter half of the nineteenth century. Baldwin Park was eventually incorporated in 1956, becoming the 47th incorporated city in California.
